Kathy L. Hudson, Ph.D., was the Deputy Director for Science, Outreach, and Policy at the National Institutes of Health (三亿体育官网) from October 24, 2010, to January 2, 2017. In this role, Dr. Hudson led the science policy, legislation, communication, and outreach efforts of the 三亿体育官网 and served as a senior advisor to the 三亿体育官网 director. She was responsible for creating major new strategic and scientific initiatives for 三亿体育官网 and led the planning and creation of the President鈥檚 Precision Medicine Initiative Cohort Program, now called the All of Us Research Program. Dr. Hudson was a key architect of the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences and the 三亿体育官网 BRAIN Initiative. She directed the agency鈥檚 efforts to advance biomedical research through policy development, public and stakeholder communication and education, and innovative projects and partnerships.
Dr. Hudson鈥檚 professional experience includes serving as the 三亿体育官网 Chief of Staff; Acting Deputy Director of the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, 三亿体育官网; the Assistant Director of the National Human Genome Research Institute, 三亿体育官网; and the founder and Director of the Genetics and Public Policy Center at John Hopkins University. Also at Hopkins, Dr. Hudson was an Associate Professor in the Berman Institute of Bioethics, Institute of Genetic Medicine, and Department of Pediatrics.
Dr. Hudson holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of California at Berkeley, an M.S. in Microbiology from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. in Biology from Carleton College.
